There was a strong Shropshire presence at this year's Play Therapy UK annual conference. We had the privilege of hearing Barbara Turner speak about Moving Beyond Darkness within Jungian Sandplay. Barbara Turner is known to many of us as the author of the incredible but HUGE Handbook of Sandplay Therapy, which some of us had to write a comparative book review on back in the early days!
We then split into a variety of workshops:
Moving beyond the darkness: experiencing the Sandplay process
The transformational potential of dens as a therapeutic tools
Working therapeutically within residential child care
An experiential introduction to Out of The Box - a playful storied approach for group work and supervision
Finding our voice: singing, regulation, and connection in therapeutic practice
Following these, we chatted the evening away with play therapy friends, both old and new. We ended up promising Monika (CEO of Play Therapy UK) that we would send her information on all we do and have done in Shropshire since completing our training - apparently through a short film - so watch this space!
