Amy Burns

Hi, I'm Amy.

I'm a mum to my brilliant daughter, an accredited Play and Creative Arts Therapist, and a Certified Creative Arts Counsellor based in South Shropshire.

Throughout my career, I have been driven by a passion for supporting children and young people to explore creatively, process difficult emotions, build resilience, and feel empowered to be themselves. I specialise in working one-to-one with children and teenagers, using a process-led, psychodynamic and client-centred approach.

My professional journey began in teaching, where I spent ten wonderful years facilitating Performing Arts sessions for a diverse range of learners. During this time, I gained extensive experience supporting children and young people with neurological, learning and physical differences. Every child taught me something. Inspired by their unique sparks of creativity, I felt called to deepen my understanding of how best to support the social and emotional needs of the young people I worked with.

I retrained as a Play Therapist and, in 2014, completed my postgraduate training with PTUK. Since then, I have run a private practice offering Play and Creative Arts Therapy from my practice space in Ludlow, as well as working remotely within community hubs and schools.

I feel privileged to have supported numerous children, young people, families and educators across Shropshire and Powys.

I believe everyone deserves a safe space where they can express themselves, make sense of their experiences, and discover their own strengths. Through play and creativity, I support children and young people to process emotions, build resilience, and thrive as their authentic selves.

As well as Shropshire, I work in Herefordshire (North - West) and Powys (Mid - East).
