Cherry Howes

Hello I’m Cherry,

I have worked with children and families for a long time now. I initially trained as a teacher. Then after having my own three children, I helped run a Toy Library supporting mums and their children. This led to me training as a Play Therapist. For the past ten years I have worked in a Counselling Centre seeing children aged 4 – 14 with a wide range of needs. I am inspired by their love of life and the imaginative ways they find to express their feelings and to move forward. I see play and creativity as a powerful means to expression and self-healing. I am trained in nondirective Play Therapy with an integrative approach drawing on knowledge I have gained to find what works best for the child.

I am interested in the attachment process, how important it is to a fulfilling life and how it can be damaged by life events. I offer Filial Play Coaching as a way to help parents and children to play together to strengthen the bond between them.

I continue to attend courses on a variety of subjects to retain freshness in my work. I am now a grandmother of four which also keeps me challenged!
