Jan Perkins

Hi! My name is Jan Perkins and I work as a British Association Play Therapist, based in Cleobury Mortimer, South Shropshire. Previously a teacher, I retrained as a BAPT (British Association of Play Therapy) to learn better how to nurture children’s emotional and social well-being. I have a set up playroom based at Cleobury Mortimer Primary School, working with both children attending the school as well as private clients.

I passionately believe that ALL children from different cultures, genders and varying abilities can be nurtured through play therapy to help them achieve their true potential. I am trained in methods and theories surrounding play and child development, attachment theory and neuroscience research. My approach is mainly non-directive, using a more integrative approach where appropriate. I receive on-going clinical supervision of my practice and continue to keep up to date with play therapy literature and research through CPD. There is so much more to learn!

I very much believe in working as part of a team around the child, involving parents, carers, and other professionals such as teachers and social workers, ensuring that the child remains central to the process.

If you would like further information about the services I offer, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Warm wishes,

Jan
