Tamsyn Chafer-Cook

For many of us, whether we are children, young people or adults, it can be difficult to find the exact words to explain how we are feeling and what we are going through. By using play and creative arts materials, I provide alternative forms of communication, rather than relying on words as the primary way of expressing thoughts and feelings. Play and creativity also help us to connect with our inner most feelings, sometimes providing answers that we hadn’t known we were searching for.

I have experience of working therapeutically with children and young people between the ages of 4 and 16, in a variety of different settings.  I trust the young people that I work with to listen to their inner voice, and support them, in a safe and confidential space, as they make sense of the world around them.

I have a therapy room and therapeutic garden in Telford where I offer both Play and Creative Arts Therapy and SandStory Therapy. I can also work with parents and carers to help build, or re-build, relationships with your children or those in your care (from birth through to teenagers) through the use of attachment play.

As a Clinical Supervisor, I can offer supervision to trainee and qualified play therapists, as well as others working with children and young people. I work in a process-led way, integrating creativity and the outdoors into our sessions, creating an open, non-judgmental, and congruent space allowing the supervisee to develop their autonomy and authentic self. Please contact me for more details.

***From August 2023, I will be on maternity leave and will have a limited range of services available, however please still feel free to make contact.
